Our Story

“Elizabeth’s Garden” began with my love of gardening and the desire to share it with others. It is a joy to connect and learn from other gardeners and flower lovers.

My love of gardening began early in life as I would go with my Dad on Saturday mornings to visit my grandparents in Taylors, SC and help them in the "garden". It was mainly a vegetable garden but I still remember the first time my mom added a zinnia bed and brought home the beautifully colored flowers. They were a staple on the old wooden porch table that summer and I have always loved them. My great aunt Margaret further instilled a love of nature as we would walk in the woods and find all types of creatures and natural treasures.
I continued to garden with my parents and transplanted many hydrangeas, lenten roses, and special plants from their homes in Greenville, SC. My mom and I love visiting nurseries and gardens together. I have learned so much about floral design from her and her friends and their love of entertaining and sharing gardens with each other.
Since we’ve been married Rick and I have always enjoyed “working in the yard” together. We've tackled many projects that usually begin with lots of heavy pruning and weeding and wisteria and smilax removal before we could create our own space. I think this will be a lifetime job!
We were blessed to find a hidden property in the Historic District of Camden, SC with lots of room to garden and a home that makes you feel like you are outside all of the time. I continue to add to my little “city farm” and love being surrounded by the joyful chaos of raising children, dogs, chickens, and bees and sharing the bounty with friends and neighbors.
Thank you for being a part of my gardening community! Elizabeth
